We’ve always believed if you take care of people first, the business will take care of itself.

Every company has a story. For SecurAlarm, that story has always been rooted in family, values, and a deep commitment to protecting what matters most. In a recent podcast conversation featuring our President, Brent Van Haren, one thing stood out clearly: this business was never just about security systems. It was built on something much deeper, and that foundation continues to shape everything we do today.

Where It All Began

SecurAlarm was founded in 1993 with a simple belief: businesses deserve better protection. What started as an extension of a family electrical business quickly evolved into something more purposeful. From the beginning, the focus wasn’t just on installing systems; it was on solving real problems, protecting people, and doing the job the right way. SecurAlarm firmly believes if you take care of people first, the business will take care of itself. And that mindset isn’t new. It’s been part of the company since day one.

More Than a Business, It’s a Family

Growth often changes companies. In many cases, it creates distance from the values that built them. That hasn’t been the case here.

As the next generation continues to lead and grow the business, the same core principles remain intact, doing what’s right, building long-term relationships, and creating something that lasts. That long-term view influences how decisions are made, how partnerships are approached, and how success is measured.

The Culture Behind the Experience

From the outside, most people see the technology, systems, and solutions. What often goes unseen is the culture behind it.  The reality is simple: the internal culture of a company directly impacts the experience clients receive. That means investing in people, encouraging collaboration, and creating an environment where teams take ownership and pride in their work. It’s not about being perfect. It’s about consistently working to be better, for each other and for the clients who rely on us.

A Different Approach to Security

Security isn’t just about products. It’s about outcomes. Every organization operates differently, with its own risks, workflows, and priorities. That’s why the approach has always been centered around understanding the full picture first, then designing solutions that align with how a business actually operates. Technology plays a critical role, but it’s only one part of the equation. The goal is to help organizations operate more safely, more efficiently, and with greater confidence.

The Power of Legacy

In a family business, legacy carries real meaning. It means growth, stewardship, continuing what was started, improving it, and ensuring it’s built to last. That perspective creates a different level of accountability. It influences how relationships are built and how commitments are honored. At its core, the focus isn’t just on what gets built today, but on what endures and carries forward into the future.

Why It Matters

Clients may not always see the family behind the business. But they do experience the difference.  It shows up in consistency, in communication, and in the way partnerships are approached. It’s reflected in a commitment to doing things the right way and standing behind the work. In an industry that can often feel transactional, that difference matters.

Built on Heart. Driven by Purpose.

SecurAlarm’s story isn’t defined by technology alone. It’s defined by people, by purpose, and by a commitment that has been there from the very beginning. Protecting what matters most is the reason we exist. We Care, So We Protect
